Dominican Republic

David and I were able to get away for a few days. We played a little game of airport roulette and ended up in the Dominican Republic, it is a beautiful tropical county with beautiful people. I thought it was a cross between Cancun and Kenya. We rented a car and drove from Santiago to the coast.

Our trip started off with a little snafu...we got to the OKC airport at 5 a.m. and David realized that he had worn to different shoes. :)

David did a great job driving, the roads were pretty bad and there were tons of potholes. We only bottomed out 3 times. :)
Delicious fruit stands were all along the roads

We bought a yummy avacado at this little market.

Our first and third nights we stayed at this hotel (more of a hostel/apartment/family house). It was $35 a night and $15 extra for air conditioning (of course David did not pay the extra) :)

We had a little picnic dinner on the beach. Yes that is an avacado in my hand. Most of the avacados were bigger than softballs and so yummy.

The Beach

We had lunch on the beach...delicious fish and a priceless view.

We found this hotel the second night. The hotel had beautiful grounds and a great breakfast of fresh juice, fruit, bread and coffee.

We saw these giant fans at the airport. The picture doesn't do it justice but there were about 10 of these giant fans. They were so big that at first we didn't know what they were but then things were cleared up when we read the label in the center of the fan. :)
